Hand Tufted Carpet

Hand Tufted carpets offer ultimate versatility in terms of color, pattern, size and texture.

It is interesting and exciting as  it presents a possibility of non repeat. Adding on to the thrill is the freehand option of creating different pile heights, (either cut pile or loop pile) adding silk or viscose to the designs or even carving on the patterns to create a truly unique art piece with a 3D effect.

The base material in the hand tufted rugs are pre woven cloth, usually canvas that provides a strong base. In the contemporary times jute base is also frequently used. Pile can be silk, wool or any of the synthetic yarns. They are pre dyed into the required colors. Apart from the base fabric and pile yarn another backing needs to be stuck to the base on which the piles have been anchored. This backing holds the pile to the base and gives certain amount of strength.

To ensure quality is never compromised, we insist on using the best raw materials (eg 100% New Zealand Wool, imported latex glue and dyes), though it adds on to production cost. Nonetheless, this increased cost is rightfully justified with a satisfied clientele.

An Axminster Carpet has always been synonymous with both a quality and luxury form of flooring. Today most carpet is manufactured utilizing the Machine Tufted method (cheaper and faster method of production). Nonetheless, for concerned consumers who priortise quality, durability and luxury an Axminster carpet is still the carpet of choice that fulfills these criteria.

Unlike Machine Tufted carpet an Axminster carpet is woven. Each individual yarn colour that goes to make up the carpet pattern is selected by a gripper and woven with the weft. After the required yarn colour has been woven into the backing it is cut automatically to the required pile height and then reinserted when this colour is next required. The fact that the individual pieces of yarn or tufts of carpet are woven with the weft, demonstrates that an Axminster carpet provides quality, longevity and durability as well as a luxurious feel.

Wilton Woven Carpet

Wilton Woven carpet, like Axminster carpet, is woven. However the difference between the two methods is the way in which the carpet is woven. Whereas the Axminster yarn is woven into each weft and then cut to the required pile height and then reinserted when that colour is needed again – the Wilton carpet yarn is a continuous strand woven all the way through.

Wilton Woven carpets , are produced on state of the art Wilton looms that use a maximum of five colours, with the possibility of presenting both loop and cut pile technology. It is the preferred flooring for many contract installations as it is stable and extremely hard wearing.
